Calvin and Hobbes Bedroom by Pellari

As a 90’s child myself I would have loved to have had this room growing up, in fact I’d love to have this Calvin and Hobbes mural on my wall right now. Growing up Calvin and Hobbes were a fond memory for me, and something I always associate with my elder sister because she loved them more than me. Hopefully your inner child will enjoy this as much as mine did.

Thought of the Day

“Do not be anxious about anything.” What a promise! This is an an-inclusive verse. Do not worry about the children or your car payment or you job or your health. Whatever is on your heart and mind, bring it to the Lord in prayer and in petition and do it with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is such an important part of the process because it speaks to trust and confidence.
When we take our prayer requests to God and then continue to worry, it is as if we are saying, “Thanks so much for stopping to listen to me, but I’m not sure you can help.” In our souls we sense the dissonance in that line of thinking. We believe that God is able to do what he says he will do; why then is it so difficult to rest in this promise? Don’t be anxious about anything.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Maid of Honor Speech

So, I was going through my files, and I stumbled upon (lol) my maid of honor speech from Ia’s wedding! I thought that I should post it so that I’ll never lose it :)

Good evening everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Edelyn and I am proud to be the beautiful bride’s youngest sister. I want to start off by congratulating the bride and groom and by thanking all of you for coming here today. It is such a blessing to be able to celebrate this special day with all of you guys.

I’ve known Ia for a very long time; pretty much most of my life! We’ve gone through so many things together as we were growing up. Mostly, it was just her picking on me as a normal older sibling, although I don’t think feeding your younger sister butter out of the carton is normal, but anyways, we got out of the bullying phase, kinda, not really. She still hacks my Facebook account saying inappropriate things, such as “I’m sexy and I know it.” I guess things never change huh.

I would also like to take this time to welcome Sean into our family. Be careful, Sean, cause one wrong step can cause the whole Barcena clan to come at you. Haha just kidding! But I do ask you to treat Ia with the respect she deserves and to never let go of her cause she’s one great catch ;D Oh! And don’t forget to always end your fights with “Yes dear.”

It may seem weird that an 18-year old is giving you advice for your future together, but don’t worry, I got this from the pros: google. This was written by Robert Anderson: “In every marriage more than a week  old, there are grounds for divorce. The trick is to find, and continue to find, ground for marriage.” After all, nobody wants to end up like Kim Kardashian, right? Haha but the real advice comes from the Bible: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3.

In all seriousness, I love ya, (do Korean thing), and I wish you and Sean the very best! So on that note, I’ll propose the toast. (raise glass a little) To Ia and Sean:

A wedding day will be remembered
For all the joy it brings
A day of love and happiness
Of vows and wedding rings
A day of new beginnings
Learning what love truly means
Your wedding day is just the start
Of many hopes and dreams.

(raise glass more) To the bride and groom! (sip from the glass)
